Labaih Initiative Brings Tailored FTA Services For Senior Citizens In UAE

The Federal Tax Authority has introduced the Labaih Initiative to make tax services more accessible for senior citizens. The programme gives tailored support for applications, requests and compliance procedures, while protecting privacy. It seeks to reduce effort and provide senior citizens with clear, efficient channels to exercise their tax rights and meet obligations without unnecessary visits or delays.

Under the Labaih Initiative, support is mainly delivered through the Federal Tax Authority Call Centre and the Taxpayer Support Centres. These platforms already assist Taxable Persons with registration, filing and other requirements. The new measures create dedicated pathways for senior citizens, aiming to simplify their experience and encourage voluntary compliance within a structured and transparent tax environment.

Labaih Initiative for Senior Citizens

Khalid Ali Al Bustani, Director-General of the Federal Tax Authority, said, "The FTA has launched the Labaih Initiative as part of its efforts to enhance the efficiency of service delivery and to provide senior citizens with appropriate facilitation and a tailored approach, in line with the directives of the wise leadership to ensure the highest levels of care, support and quality of life for them. Senior citizens form a core and valued pillar of our society, and this initiative reflects our appreciation for their longstanding contributions to the community and to the Nation’s development across all sectors." The statement links the initiative to broader national priorities for social care.

Al Bustani added, "Through the Labaih Initiative, we aim to offer innovative Tax process solutions that enable senior citizens to access all FTA services through mechanisms that ensure clarity, speed, and with full respect of their privacy, hence reducing the effort required throughout their service journey. The initiative provides a dedicated and simplified pathway for senior citizens who otherwise may experience challenges in completing their tax procedures accurately. It offers the necessary support, guidance, and facilitation that reflect our commitment to ensuring their comfort and enhancing their service experience." This comment highlights the focus on ease of access and reduced complexity.

The Federal Tax Authority explained that the Labaih Initiative introduces specific procedures designed around the needs and expectations of senior citizens. It forms part of the Authority’s corporate social responsibility plans, aimed at improving quality of life in the wider community. The approach seeks to balance efficient tax administration with personalised assistance, especially for individuals who may require extra guidance with digital or procedural steps.

Among the key features is a Direct Line service run by a specialised team at the Taxpayer Support Office. This team handles all queries from senior citizens and tracks each request from start to finish. Staff apply simplified procedures and give clear instructions, so callers can understand requirements and submit accurate information without repeated follow-up calls or visits to Federal Tax Authority locations.

The initiative also introduces priority access within existing channels. Senior citizens receive faster handling through the Federal Tax Authority Call Centre and a Fast-Track route at Taxpayer Support Centres. These options shorten waiting times and speed up the processing of applications and other tax transactions. Throughout these steps, the Authority states that privacy is respected and that communication is adapted to support comfort and independence.

Digital access is another element of the Labaih Initiative, allowing senior citizens to view documents directly on the Federal Tax Authority website. This function reduces the need to travel to a Taxpayer Support Centre for routine paperwork. In addition, the Authority organises awareness activities, such as workshops and introductory sessions, delivered using methods suitable for senior citizens, to build confidence in using tax legislation, procedures and online services.

The Director-General emphasised that the Federal Tax Authority aims to maintain a tax system that protects the privacy of senior citizens and all other users. The approach is aligned with the UAE’s future vision for social care, which calls for innovative service models. Through the Labaih Initiative, the Authority seeks to ensure senior citizens can access tax services easily, accurately and with sustained support for their overall well-being.
