Kuwait's Cabinet Declares New Year Holidays On January 1 And 2, 2025

Kuwait's Cabinet on Wednesday declared to grant employees of Ministries, government agencies, and public institutions holiday on the occasion of New Year. Thus, Wednesday and Thursday — January 1 and 2, 2025 — will be a holiday to mark the New Year festivities. The gathering also established that because January 2 falls amidst two recognized holidays, it will be considered an official day off, with regular operations resuming on Sunday, January 5, 2025, according to Arab Times report.

Moreover, the Cabinet highlighted that entities with critical operations could set their holiday schedules as per instructions from relevant supervisory bodies. This flexibility ensures that the public sector can maintain essential services without interruption during the New Year period. The decision to adjust the working days around the New Year aims to balance celebration needs with the public interest, ensuring that vital functions continue to serve the community effectively.

The Cabinet's resolution to suspend work for the New Year celebrations demonstrates a thoughtful consideration of both traditional festivities and the necessity of ongoing public services. By allowing a break on January 1 and 2, 2025, and resuming activities on January 5, the government ensures that the spirit of the holiday is preserved while aligning with the public interest for continuous service provision.
