Kuwait Lifts Ban On Work, Entry Visas For Filipino Nationals

Kuwait has lifted its ban on issuing entry and work visas to Philippine nationals, which had been in place for over a year. The country is also permitting the recruitment of experienced Filipino domestic workers who have previously worked abroad. The announcement was made by Kuwait's Ministry of Interior on Sunday.

A bilateral meeting took place on Sunday between Kuwait's Minister of Defense and the Minister of the Interior, and the Deputy Minister of Migrant Labor of the Philippines. The meeting was held at Seif Palace and chaired by Sheikh Fahad Yousef Saud Al-Sabah, First Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers. During this meeting, both sides agreed to establish a joint technical working committee that will meet periodically to address employment-related issues and other concerns. The two governments also reaffirmed their commitment to the "Domestic Workers Employment Agreement" signed by both the Philippines and Kuwait in 2018.

The ban was implemented on May 10 last year after the Philippines allegedly violated the bilateral labour agreement.
