GCC Leaders Call For Immediate Action To End Violence In Gaza And Support Palestinian Rights

The GCC leaders have reiterated their unwavering support for the Palestinian cause, stressing the necessity of Palestinian sovereignty over territories occupied since June 1967. They advocate for an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital. This stance was highlighted in the Kuwaiti Declaration, issued at the conclusion of the 45th GCC Summit in Kuwait on December 1.

During the summit, leaders condemned Israel's military actions in Gaza, Lebanon, and the West Bank. They called for an end to violence and urged international intervention to protect civilians and support peace negotiations. The declaration also expressed backing for the outcomes of an extraordinary Arab-Islamic summit in Saudi Arabia aimed at halting the war in Gaza and advancing a two-state solution.

They welcomed a temporary ceasefire agreement and called for Israel's withdrawal from occupied areas. The implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and the return of displaced persons were also stressed. Solidarity with the Lebanese people was expressed alongside calls for a political solution to internal divisions.

The summit underscored the importance of strategic investments in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI) and cybersecurity. These technologies position the GCC to capitalize on global digital transformation with applications in renewable energy, healthcare, education, transportation, and financial services. In Yemen, efforts by Saudi Arabia and Oman to revive political processes among Yemeni parties were commended by GCC leaders. They reiterated commitment to peaceful diplomacy in resolving regional disputes while respecting state sovereignty and adhering to international law. The growing influence of GCC countries in addressing challenges was noted alongside promoting international dialogue.

The leaders stressed ongoing development of digital infrastructure alongside building a technically skilled workforce capable of leading digital transformation. Balancing innovation with environmental sustainability was highlighted as crucial for ensuring sustainable prosperity for both the region and globally.

The summit concluded with an affirmation that these collective efforts demonstrate GCC's commitment to keeping up with global advancements while improving citizens' quality of life. Establishing the region as a global digital economy hub remains a priority.
