Kuwait City Ranked 6th Among Arab Cities For Traffic Congestion
The 2023 Global Traffic Score Record by INRIX, a prominent traffic data analysis firm, has placed Kuwait City in the sixth position among Arab cities and 550th worldwide in terms of traffic congestion. According to the report, traffic congestion occurs when the demand for road space surpasses its capacity, leading to significant time and fuel losses for drivers, freight carriers, and bus passengers.
Kuwait City's ranking as the sixth most congested Arab city demonstrates the severity of this issue. Traffic congestion is characterized by an imbalance between road space availability and demand, resulting in considerable delays and increased fuel consumption for all road users.
The INRIX report also examined the economic implications of traffic congestion. In 2023, the United States experienced a cost of over $70.4 billion due to traffic jams, representing a 15% increase from the previous year. This statistic underscores the far-reaching consequences of traffic congestion, with vehicle drivers losing an average of 42 hours annually because of it.
