KSrelief And WFP Commit $5 Million To Support Food Needs In Gaza Strip

Riyadh, SPA-- In a significant move to support the displaced Palestinian population in the Gaza Strip, the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has partnered with the World Food Programme (WFP) through a cooperation agreement. This collaboration aims to provide essential food assistance to those affected in the region. The agreement was signed remotely by Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court and General Supervisor of KSrelief, and Cindy McCain, the Executive Director of WFP. The initiative will see the distribution of ready-made food supplies to meet some of the needs of beneficiaries in the Gaza Strip, benefiting a total of 377,855 individuals with a commitment valued at $5 million.

Following directives from the Kingdom's leadership, a grassroots campaign has been launched via the "SAHEM" platform to further aid the Palestinian people in Gaza. Additionally, an extensive relief effort comprising an airlift and a sea bridge has been activated to transport vital medical supplies, food, and shelter materials. The airlift has so far involved 44 relief planes carrying over 829 tons of aid, including 20 ambulances equipped with essential medical equipment. On the maritime front, six relief ships have already arrived, delivering 4,966 tons of medical, shelter, and food supplies. Altogether, the air and sea bridges have transported more than 5,795 tons of aid to Gaza.

$5M Food Aid for Gaza

In addition to this recent agreement with WFP, KSrelief has entered into four cooperation agreements with key international organizations including UNRWA, WHO, and the International Committee of the Red Cross alongside WFP. These agreements total SAR150 million and are aimed at delivering comprehensive relief to the Palestinian people in Gaza. A notable memorandum signed with UNRWA includes financial support amounting to $40 million to support UNRWA's emergency appeal in Gaza.

These efforts underscore the Kingdom's ongoing commitment to humanitarian initiatives that support displaced Palestinian individuals and enhance food security in the Gaza Strip. By collaborating with specialized United Nations agencies, KSrelief continues to extend its solidarity and support to those in need within this troubled region.
