KSrelief Supervisor General Discusses Humanitarian Support For Healthcare In Underprivileged Countries

During a visit to Tunisia, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, underscored Saudi Arabia's humanitarian contributions to global health sectors. At a press conference in Tunis, he detailed KSrelief's mission, initiated by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, to deliver humanitarian aid aligned with noble goals.

Dr. Al Rabeeah highlighted that KSrelief has implemented 3,393 projects in 106 countries, valued at approximately $8 billion. Among these are 653 health sector projects worth over $1.972 billion. These initiatives aim to address global humanitarian needs and include capacity building and training for civil society organizations in middle- and low-income nations.

KSrelief Highlights Healthcare Support Initiatives

The Masam Project is one of KSrelief’s notable initiatives. Launched in 2018, it focuses on clearing landmines in Yemen and has successfully removed over 488,000 landmines. Additionally, artificial limb centers have benefited more than 115,000 individuals, while a reintegration program supports children previously involved in armed conflict.

Dr. Al Rabeeah also praised the Saudi Separation of Conjoined Twins Program as a unique global initiative. Since its inception in 1990, it has reviewed 149 cases from 27 countries and performed 62 successful separation surgeries. This program covers all expenses related to surgeries and treatments for conjoined twins worldwide.

The Saudi International Volunteer Portal aims to recruit volunteers for KSrelief missions abroad. To date, over 78,000 volunteers have registered on this platform. Furthermore, under the directives of King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia provided Tunisia with medical equipment and COVID-19 vaccines to support its healthcare sector during the pandemic.

The upcoming Saudi Sama’a Volunteer Program will soon launch in Tunisia. It plans to perform 50 cochlear implant surgeries and offer auditory rehabilitation services. This initiative reflects Saudi Arabia's commitment to enhancing healthcare support globally.

Dr. Al Rabeeah concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening humanitarian efforts to improve healthcare quality for beneficiaries worldwide.
