KSrelief Launches 78 Global Health And Rehabilitation Projects For Persons With Disabilities Worth Over USD 64 Million
Empowering individuals with disabilities is crucial for a compassionate society. This involves ensuring equal opportunities in health, education, and social spheres. By fostering their participation, communities can thrive. Disabilities should be seen as an opportunity to nurture unique talents that deserve support. Such empowerment is both a humanitarian duty and a civil responsibility, promoting inclusivity and justice.
The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) has been instrumental in supporting people with disabilities globally. Since its inception, KSrelief has executed 78 projects across countries like Yemen, Syria, Sudan, Poland, Senegal, Jordan, Somalia, Tunisia, Lebanon, and Türkiye. These initiatives are valued at over $64.39 million and focus on enhancing health services and providing assistive devices.

In Yemen, KSrelief has launched numerous projects for those who have lost limbs due to landmines. The Prosthetics Program has benefited 137,046 individuals by offering high-quality prosthetic limbs and training local staff in manufacturing techniques. This initiative also aims to build the capacity of health institutions to ensure sustainable service delivery.
In Sudan, KSrelief provided prosthetic limbs for Hiba and Samah, formerly conjoined twins separated through the Saudi Conjoined Twins Program in 1992. This effort was part of their rehabilitation to help them reintegrate into normal life. Similarly, in Poland, the center supported Ukrainian refugees by providing prosthetic limbs.
KSrelief's work extends to Lebanon where it rehabilitated six centers offering healthcare and psychosocial services for refugees with disabilities and host community members. These centers have served 6,000 individuals. Additionally, a project was initiated to deliver educational and rehabilitation services for Syrian refugee children with disabilities.
In Türkiye's Hatay Province in 2024, KSrelief launched the "Hear Saudi Arabia" program. It is the largest global humanitarian cochlear-implant initiative for children. The program includes cochlear implant surgeries and auditory rehabilitation while training parents on communicating with children who have received implants.
Expanding Reach Across Continents
The program expanded in 2025 to include Palestinian children in Jordan as well as children in Tunisia, Senegal, Kenya, and Somalia. KSrelief's observance of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3 highlights Saudi Arabia’s commitment to protecting their rights and ensuring they lead dignified lives.
Since its establishment, KSrelief has implemented 3,881 projects across 109 countries at a total cost exceeding $8.251 billion. These efforts underscore the Kingdom’s dedication to humanitarian aid and disability empowerment worldwide.
