Over 800,000 Yemeni Children Benefit From KSrelief's Educational Support

Aden, SPA-- In a significant move to bolster education in Yemen, Saudi Arabia has pledged $6.2 million through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) to aid approximately 827,000 children. This funding, in collaboration with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), aims to provide quality education opportunities to children affected by the ongoing challenges in the region. UNICEF has highlighted that this generous contribution from KSrelief has enabled both girls and boys from vulnerable communities to access public and private education.

The initiative has had a substantial impact, supporting over 527,000 children in taking part in national final exams for the academic year 2022-2023. Furthermore, an additional 300,000 students were provided with school bags and recreational supplies. This effort not only motivates students to return to school but also eases the financial strain on their families. The Kingdom's support extends beyond student aid, enhancing educational quality through the professional development of 7,520 male and female teachers across 17 governorates.

KSrelief Boosts Yemen Child Education

Moreover, KSrelief's commitment to improving hygiene in schools led to the procurement and distribution of hygiene supplies for 71,956 children and 120 schools. The outreach component of this initiative is equally impressive, with nearly 4.9 million individuals, including caregivers, reached through five awareness campaigns. These campaigns engaged around 26,000 community leaders, officials, and 2,500 families, spreading vital information and support throughout the community.

UNICEF Representative to Yemen, Peter Hawkins, expressed gratitude towards KSrelief's contribution, stating, "One in every four primary school-aged children in Yemen is currently out of school. Moreover, educational outcomes for those able to attend do not align with their age." He acknowledged that the support from partners like KSrelief is crucial for UNICEF's efforts to meet the educational needs of vulnerable girls and boys in Yemen.

KSrelief's ongoing partnership with UNICEF underscores its commitment to providing life-saving interventions that address the critical needs of vulnerable children in Yemen. This collaboration not only focuses on immediate educational needs but also aims at creating a sustainable impact on the lives of millions affected by the crisis in Yemen.
