KSrelief Chief Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah Advocates For Comprehensive Humanitarian System Reform At UNGA
Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor-General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), took part in a dialogue on 'reform for impact' at the 80th United Nations General Assembly session in New York City. He discussed the challenges facing humanitarian efforts, noting that many projects have closed, leaving millions without aid and causing workers to abandon their roles.
The Kingdom, through KSrelief, sees the UN's 80th anniversary as a chance to renew its commitment to sustainable reform. Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasised that reforms should extend beyond executive levels to include accountability, transparency, and inclusiveness. He stressed aligning operations with development priorities and ensuring fair geographic representation.

Dr. Al Rabeeah underscored the importance of enhancing reform impacts for better operational results. He stated, "We will continue to strengthen these partnerships so that our humanitarian efforts meet the needs of affected communities," highlighting the significance of involving local leaders in these efforts.
KSrelief has implemented over 3,600 projects across 108 countries with more than 320 partners. Dr. Al Rabeeah described coordination as a "collective responsibility" and reiterated Saudi Arabia's commitment through KSrelief to lead in building a global humanitarian aid system that ensures peace, security, and dignity for all.
He pointed out that reform must ensure efficient system operation while aligning with development goals. The need for equitable geographic representation was also highlighted as crucial for effective reform implementation.
The dialogue session served as a platform for discussing how reforms can enhance humanitarian operations' impact. Dr. Al Rabeeah noted that strengthening partnerships is vital to meeting affected communities' needs effectively.
The Kingdom aims to continue its pioneering role in global humanitarian aid through KSrelief by fostering a system where everyone can live peacefully and securely with dignity.
