KSGAAL Showcases AI Initiatives For Arabic At Global AI Summit

The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL) took part in the third Global AI Summit (GAIN Summit). This event was organised by the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) from September 10 to 12 at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Center in Riyadh. The academy's representation came through the Artificial Intelligence Center for Arabic Language Processing.

During the summit, the Artificial Intelligence Center showcased various strategic initiatives based on artificial intelligence (AI). This centre is notable as the first specialised hub for Arabic natural language processing. Its primary goal is to utilise and enhance AI techniques to develop scientific tools and computer applications that facilitate interactions with the Arabic language across different platforms.

The centre aims to foster an active research community dedicated to solving challenges in Arabic natural language processing. It provides linguistic resources and data, builds computer tools, and organises training programs and workshops in language computing and AI fields. The Artificial Intelligence Center comprises five main laboratories: the "Artificial Intelligence Laboratory," the "Data Preparation and Linguistic Resources Building Laboratory," the "Audio and Visual Laboratory," the "Virtual and Augmented Reality Laboratory," and the "Researchers' Laboratory." Each lab focuses on different aspects of AI and language processing, contributing to a comprehensive approach to research and development.

This centre was launched in November 2023 with a mission to support researchers worldwide. It aims to help them implement their projects while also developing their skills and innovations in AI and Arabic natural language processing. By providing these resources, the centre plays a crucial role in advancing research in this field.
