Korean Film Week In Riyadh Highlights Art Cinema Initiative By Film Commission
The Film Commission has introduced a new initiative to boost art cinema, highlighting its vital role in cultural promotion and skill development for creators. This initiative includes various workshops and cinematic events, both local and international, aimed at encouraging creative expression and delivering deep cultural messages beyond traditional commercial films.
In Saudi Arabia, the Film Commission organised 10 diverse workshops in Jeddah with 11 different entities. These workshops successfully improved the skills of 27 participants. Additionally, the commission held sessions in Berlin where 11 trainees interacted with cinema organisations, learning about the latest trends and enhancing their cultural insights.

The workshops are part of a broader effort to sustain art cinema by creating platforms that support local talent and encourage collaboration among filmmakers. As part of this initiative, Korean Film Week was launched in Riyadh from January 19 to 23 at Cinehouse. Supported by the Film Commission, this event offers a unique cinematic experience that showcases Korean culture's richness.
During Korean Film Week, audiences can watch acclaimed films like Cobweb and Parasite. The event also features engaging dialogue sessions on topics such as "The Global Appeal of Korean Cinema" and how Korean culture influences cinema. These discussions aim to deepen understanding and foster cultural communication.
The seminars include film directors and international experts who promote interaction and global knowledge connections. These initiatives demonstrate the Film Commission's dedication to expanding Saudi cinema's reach and creating new opportunities for creators to display their work.
By supporting these efforts, the commission aims to establish Saudi Arabia as a global centre for cinematic excellence and cultural collaboration. This commitment reflects a strategic vision to broaden the scope of Saudi cinema on an international stage.
