KnowTalks Initiative Launches Engaging Discussions On AI And Cybersecurity In Jordan

The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation (MBRF) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) have initiated a series of discussions in Jordan, named "KnowTalks." These sessions cover diverse topics such as strategy development, corporate social responsibility (CSR), cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence's societal role.

The first session, titled "The Human Firewall: Fighting Cybercrime with Awareness," examined technology's vital role in empowering People of Determination. It provided an extensive overview of cybersecurity's practical aspects. Discussions included technology-related risks, laws, regulations, and cybersecurity applications in sectors like smart cities, digital governance, e-learning, digital media, IoT, healthcare, and industry.

Engaging Discussions on AI and Cybersecurity

This session also highlighted groups frequently targeted by cybercriminals. A presentation detailed common hacking techniques such as social engineering, distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) attacks, software vulnerabilities, and human error. These insights aim to enhance awareness and preparedness against cyber threats.

The second session focused on CSR initiatives aimed at sustainable community development. It emphasised efforts in the Al-Jizah region, home to over 28 villages with around 118,000 residents and a 19 percent unemployment rate. The discussion highlighted advanced training programmes that equip individuals with essential skills for the labour market.

These programmes have yielded impressive results: over 600 participants graduated from seven courses in 2024. Among them were 112 women. Female participation increased from 43 percent in 2024 to 68 percent in 2025. Of the graduates, 64 percent found employment while 25 percent started small businesses earning between 500 and 1,000 Jordanian dinars.

Exploring Human Nature and AI

The third session titled "Staying Human in the Age of Intelligent Everything" delved into existential questions about human nature amidst AI advancements. It explored how humans evolve with AI's emergence. This discussion aimed to understand the implications of AI on human identity and societal roles.

Strategic Insights from Business Successes

The fourth session called "The Business Called Me" explored strategy's true meaning within the corporate world. It cited successful companies like Apple that thrived through clear strategies. In contrast, it discussed examples like Nokia and Kodak that struggled due to outdated or weak strategic approaches.

‘KnowTalks’ is a series of intellectual seminars bringing together leading experts to address knowledge and development challenges. These sessions aim to foster understanding and provide insights into various fields crucial for societal advancement.
