Kingdom Utilises Artificial Intelligence To Transform Healthcare And Enhance Quality Of Life

Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Haitham Al-Ohali, highlighted Saudi Arabia's pioneering role in using artificial intelligence (AI) to boost healthcare and enhance life quality. He stressed that these initiatives align with national strategies focused on medical innovation and advancing health services during a panel at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.

Eng. Al-Ohali shared that the Kingdom’s SEHA Virtual Hospital, the largest globally, has delivered over 51 million medical consultations using AI for remote diagnosis and treatment. This technology has notably improved treatment efficiency by 85%, particularly for complex conditions like sickle cell anemia.

The deputy minister also mentioned that AI technologies have significantly reduced the average time to initiate stroke treatment to just 25 minutes, compared to the global average of 60 minutes. This achievement underscores the Kingdom's progress in healthcare innovation.

Furthermore, Eng. Al-Ohali pointed out that 200 hospitals are linked to the Saudi Virtual Health Hospital, which enhances access to medical services more efficiently across the nation. This connectivity is a testament to the Kingdom's commitment to improving healthcare delivery through advanced technologies.

He also noted that the Hevolution Foundation has dedicated $400 million towards research and innovations in healthspan sciences. These efforts aim to achieve scientific advancements equivalent to 15 years of development within just three years, showcasing a significant leap forward in this field.

Eng. Al-Ohali affirmed that these accomplishments reflect Saudi Arabia's dedication to leading in healthcare by leveraging AI capabilities. The goal is not only to improve individual quality of life but also to ensure a sustainable healthy future for all citizens.

The Kingdom's strategic focus on integrating AI into healthcare demonstrates its commitment to achieving leadership in this sector while enhancing overall well-being and service accessibility for its population.
