King Salman Approves 4th National Charity Campaign For Ramadan

Riyadh, SPA – In a significant move to enhance charitable activities across the Kingdom, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud has given his nod for the commencement of the 4th National Campaign for Charitable Work. This initiative, set to unfold on the National Platform for Charitable Work (Ehsan) starting Friday, is part of a broader effort to encourage and facilitate charitable giving during the holy month of Ramadan. The campaign is designed to run throughout Ramadan, providing a window for continuous donations until the month's end.

This initiative underscores the deep-rooted commitment of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, towards fostering charitable work. This aligns with the core principles of Islamic law (Sharia), emphasizing community solidarity and the importance of good deeds, especially during Ramadan.

King Salman's New Charity Drive for Ramadan

Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Chairman of the Ehsan Platform's Supervisory Committee, extended his gratitude towards the royal leadership for their steadfast support of the platform since its establishment by a Royal decree. He highlighted that this year's campaign follows in the footsteps of its predecessors' notable achievements. The most recent campaign in 2023 witnessed an overwhelming response, with donations surpassing SAR 760 million ($202,626,191.60), aiding over 398,000 individuals through more than 10.4 million donation transactions. A highlight was setting a Guinness World Record for the largest single-day donation within 24 hours on the 27th night of Ramadan last year.

The Ehsan platform facilitates digital contributions towards a variety of charitable and development causes throughout the campaign period. Donors also have the option to contribute to the Ehsan Endowment Fund. Established under a Royal decree by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), Ehsan operates under a supervisory committee that includes representatives from 13 government agencies. This governance structure is part of a national strategy to digitally enhance the charity sector and affirm Saudi Arabia's leadership in charitable giving globally. Since its inception, Ehsan has garnered over SAR 5 billion ($1,338,287,450) in donations, benefiting more than 4.8 million individuals across various eligible groups.
