King Salman International Airport Development Company (KSIADC) has formed strategic alliances with the Special Integrated Logistics Zone (SILZ) and FedEx. The aim is to transform Riyadh into a key logistics hub, enhancing its position among the top 10 countries globally in logistics and air cargo services.

The collaboration with SILZ, Saudi Arabia's first special economic zone, focuses on improving operational processes and infrastructure to boost air cargo capabilities in Riyadh. King Salman International Airport's strategic location connects three continents, enhancing the efficiency of the economic zone within it. This partnership aims to speed up goods movement and improve logistics operations for businesses in Riyadh.

As part of the agreement with FedEx, both parties will work on improving logistics solutions and supply chains at King Salman International Airport. This collaboration seeks to transfer knowledge, adopt best practices, and implement advanced logistics solutions. It also explores new opportunities in logistics, distribution, and shipping sectors within the Kingdom.

KSIADC acting chief executive Marco Mejia highlighted that these partnerships are crucial for strengthening Saudi Arabia's position as a global logistics hub. He stated that they reaffirm KSIADC’s commitment to supporting economic development by providing world-class airport facilities and leading logistics solutions.

SILZ chief executive Dr. Fadi Al-Buhairan emphasized that partnering with King Salman International Airport is vital for enhancing Riyadh’s status as a regional and global hub for logistics and air cargo services. "Together, we will create an attractive environment for international investors and drive economic growth forward," he said.

FedEx managing director for Middle East operations Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak noted that this collaboration aims to enhance the efficiency of Saudi Arabia’s logistics sector. "By leveraging our expertise and the strategic location of King Salman International Airport, we will work to improve supply-chain operations and implement the best innovative solutions," Al-Mubarak said.

Global Market Expansion

Joining TIACA allows KSIADC to expand its global market access while improving operational efficiency. This move supports Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a leading regional hub for logistics and shipping by fostering innovation and strengthening sector partnerships.

TIACA director-general Glyn Hughes remarked that KSIADC’s membership will enhance their shared vision for a secure and economically thriving air cargo sector. The goal is to tackle current challenges while advancing towards a sustainable future for the industry.

The strategic location of King Salman International Airport offers unique access to global air routes and the largest consumer market in the Middle East. These partnerships aim to accelerate goods movement and improve business logistics operations in Riyadh.
