King Abdulaziz Reserve Sets New Access Rules To Safeguard Wildlife And Vegetation

The King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve Development Authority has recently unveiled a novel approach to manage visitor access to the Al-Suman area. This innovative system, operational from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm, mandates that visitors secure an entry permit via the authority's official website before their visit. This move is part of a broader strategy aimed at harmonizing environmental conservation efforts with public enjoyment of the reserve.

Integral to the Kingdom's vision, this initiative is a stride towards achieving the ambitious objectives set forth in the 2030 strategic plan for royal reserves and the Saudi Green Initiative. Since its inception in 2018, the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve has witnessed significant environmental progress, including the revitalization of its flora in valleys and meadows, alongside a noticeable increase in wildlife activity. The introduction of controlled vehicle access is expected to further safeguard the reserve's plant life and nocturnal animal populations.

Spanning an impressive area of approximately 28,000 square kilometers in the Riyadh Region, the King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve encompasses notable sites such as Rawdat Al-Tanhat, Rawdat Al-Khafs, Rawdat Noura, Al-Dahna, Al-Suman, and their environs. It stands as one of seven royal reserves established by royal decree and proudly holds membership within the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), underscoring its commitment to global environmental standards.
