King Abdulaziz Palace In Lina: Celebrating Saudi Arabia's National Day And Historical Significance

King Abdulaziz Palace in Lina, Rafha Governorate, Northern Borders Region, is a significant historical site. Standing for nearly 90 years, it reflects the era of unification and holds a special place in the nation's history. The palace narrates King Abdulaziz's journey in building and unifying the state.

The palace was constructed by King Abdulaziz's order around 1354–1355 AH (1935–1936 AD). It covers an area of approximately 4,320 square meters. Built with mud, stone, and adobe, it features four circular towers at its corners. These towers highlight both defensive and architectural elements.

A massive wooden main gate graces the southern façade of the palace, while another gate is on the western side. Inside, there are 52 rooms surrounding a spacious courtyard. Additional features include a mosque, water well, horse stables, prayer area, and ceremonial square.

The palace once served as Lina Principality's headquarters and managed Northern Borders Region affairs. It also housed the governor and his family. This made it an important administrative and historical symbol in the region.

Lina's location was strategically chosen about 100 kilometers from Rafha on an ancient trade route. This route connected the Arabian Peninsula's heart with Iraq via Darb Zubaydah. Its position made it a hub for merchants and caravans traveling between Iraq, the Levant, and the Arabian Peninsula.

The area was known for its abundant water wells. These resources contributed to its stability and economic growth, turning it into a center of social prosperity over time.

Today, as Saudi Arabia celebrates its 95th National Day under "Our Pride is in Our Nature," King Abdulaziz Palace stands as a monument of glory. It embodies both authenticity and modernity in the Kingdom's history.
