King Abdulaziz International Quran Memorization Competition Launches With Record Number Of Contestants
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance has completed its preparations for the 45th King Abdulaziz International Competition for Memorizing, Reciting, and Interpreting the Holy Quran. This event is set to begin at the Grand Mosque in Makkah under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. A record-breaking 179 participants from 128 countries will compete this year.
The competition is divided into five categories. These include memorizing the entire Quran with proper recitation and intonation according to seven different ways, memorizing with interpretation of vocabulary, memorizing 15 parts, and memorizing five parts with proper recitation and intonation. The event highlights Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting Quranic studies globally.

This year's competition sees the highest number of contestants since its inception in 1399 AH. This underscores its global importance and Saudi Arabia's leadership in organizing international Quranic events. The total prize money exceeds SAR4 million, with SAR500,000 awarded to the first-place winner in the main category.
Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Abdullatif Al Alsheikh oversees the event. His involvement emphasizes Saudi Arabia's dedication to supporting Quran memorizers and reciters worldwide. The competition encourages Muslims to engage deeply with the Quran through memorization and reflection.
The Ministry dedicates significant resources to this competition, following directives from King Salman and HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. This dedication reflects the Kingdom's leading role in serving the Holy Quran globally.
The event aims to foster a spirit of honorable competition among participants while encouraging them to memorize, reflect on, and understand the Holy Quran. Strict judging criteria ensure that prizes are fairly distributed among winners in various categories.
