King Abdulaziz International Airport Achieves Historic Milestone Of 50 Million Passengers In 2025

King Abdulaziz International Airport has reached a significant milestone by handling 50 million passengers in 2025. This is the highest number recorded by any Saudi airport since civil aviation began in the Kingdom. The achievement places the airport among the world's largest in terms of passenger traffic, highlighting its role as a key regional hub and national gateway.

This accomplishment underscores the airport's contribution to Saudi Arabia's position as a global tourist destination and a gateway to the Two Holy Mosques. It plays a crucial part in facilitating travel for visitors, Umrah performers, and pilgrims, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030's goals to diversify the economy and enhance travel experiences.

King Abdulaziz Airport Reaches 50 Million Passengers

Jeddah Airports Company (JEDCO) marked this milestone by celebrating the arrival of the 50-millionth passenger at King Abdulaziz International Airport. The passenger, a French national arriving from Paris on a Saudia flight, was welcomed warmly by JEDCO's leadership. She was in Jeddah to participate in a sports tournament and received a commemorative gift to honour the occasion.

Eng. Mazen Johar, CEO of JEDCO, expressed that reaching this passenger count demonstrates the airport’s high operational readiness. He highlighted it as a pivotal step towards doubling this figure in future years. Johar credited this success to support from Saudi leadership and oversight from key figures like the Minister of Transport and Logistic Services.

The Chairman of the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) and Matarat Holding's CEO also played vital roles in achieving this milestone. Their continuous guidance, along with efforts from all partners committed to quality service, was essential. This collaboration ensures that passengers and visitors receive exceptional services at King Abdulaziz International Airport.

As King Abdulaziz International Airport continues to grow, it strengthens its position as an important hub connecting Saudi Arabia with the world. The airport's development aligns with broader national objectives to enhance tourism and economic diversification under Vision 2030.

This historic achievement not only highlights operational excellence but also sets the stage for future growth. With plans to increase passenger numbers further, King Abdulaziz International Airport is poised to continue playing a vital role in Saudi Arabia's aviation sector.
