King Abdulaziz International Airport Records 53.4 Million Passengers In Historic Year
King Abdulaziz International Airport has set a new record after handling 53.4 million passengers in one year, the highest annual passenger volume ever reported at a Saudi airport. This performance places the Jeddah gateway among the world’s mega airports for passenger traffic and confirms its growing importance within the Kingdom’s aviation network and for international connections.
Alongside the surge in passengers, airport operations recorded 310,000 flights over the same period and processed 60.4 million baggage items, an increase of 12% compared to 2024. The airport also managed 9.57 million Zamzam water bottles and 2,968 cargo flights, underlining the scale of services provided to travellers, pilgrims and commercial customers.

The rising passenger numbers highlight King Abdulaziz International Airport’s role as a central hub for visitors and pilgrims heading to the Kingdom’s holy sites. Its performance supports tourism growth targets and wider economic diversification goals linked to Saudi Vision 2030, while also aiming to offer a smoother travel journey for residents, international visitors and transit passengers.
Jeddah Airports Company CEO Eng. Mazen Johar stated that handling 53.4 million passengers shows strong operational readiness at King Abdulaziz International Airport and marks a key stage as plans advance to potentially double passenger capacity over the coming years. Johar described the latest figures as a national achievement for the aviation sector.
Eng. Mazen Johar noted that the airport’s performance relies on guidance from the Saudi leadership and sustained backing from the minister of transport and logistic services, the president of the General Authority of Civil Aviation, and the CEO of MATARAT Holding Company. This official support is helping to maintain reliability and improve services at the airport.
The CEO added that expansions, increased capacity and ongoing service upgrades are strengthening King Abdulaziz International Airport’s position as a major regional aviation hub, in line with the aviation program and Saudi Vision 2030. Johar thanked government and private partners whose joint efforts helped deliver high service standards while supporting the airport’s growing passenger and cargo operations.
