Khalifa University Introduces Fully Online Master’s Programme In HSE Engineering For Practicing Engineers
Khalifa University of Science and Technology has announced that its Master of Engineering in Health, Safety, and Environmental Engineering (MEng in HSE Engineering) will be fully accessible online starting in Fall 2025. This programme aims to enhance the skills of practising engineers and graduates by offering specialisations in Fire Protection, Process Safety, and Radiation Protection.
Professor Bayan Sharif, Provost at Khalifa University, stated, "The fully online MEng in HSE Engineering reflects our commitment to offering strategically relevant programs that remain critical to the regional and global workplace requirements. As a research and enterprise-oriented higher education institution, our objective is to offer the community initiatives that help build capacities while creating awareness on environment and safety. We believe the graduates that will come through this program will significantly contribute to not only the economic progress but also the overall well-being of the society."

Health and Safety Engineers are essential for safeguarding lives, infrastructure, and nature by reducing risks and planning sustainably. They evaluate hazards, report their findings, and create innovative solutions based on scientific principles to tackle complex safety and environmental issues. Their expertise is crucial as environmental concerns continue to grow globally.
Graduates from this programme will be skilled in designing water systems that ensure clean water by removing harmful pathogens. As demand for these specialists increases due to rising environmental concerns, their role becomes even more vital. Their knowledge extends beyond environmental protection to include fire engineering.
Designing for Safety and Health
These engineers are trained to design machinery that enhances human health or prevents diseases. They assist in waste disposal, improve pollution control measures, and develop methods for cleaning up existing hazards. Their work is pivotal in ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and industry best practices.
The online MEng in HSE Engineering prepares professionals to assess risks effectively. They learn how to devise optimal engineering solutions while ensuring adherence to regulations. This comprehensive training equips them with the necessary skills for managing safety challenges across various industries.
As Khalifa University continues its mission of providing relevant educational programmes, it remains committed to addressing both regional needs and global demands. The introduction of this online master's degree is a step towards building capacities within communities while promoting awareness about environmental safety issues.
