SWAN Programme Boosts Female Emirati-Led Home Businesses In Abu Dhabi
The Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development (KFED) has recently unveiled the SWAN programme, a new initiative aimed at empowering Emirati women entrepreneurs in Abu Dhabi. This programme is specifically designed for UAE National women who are at the of home-based businesses are ready to elevate their ventures to the next level. By focusing on areas such as mental wellbeing, mindfulness, and leadership skills, SWAN is poised to support these entrepreneurs in transitioning their start-ups into sustainable, licensed commercial entities that contribute to the economic development of Abu Dhabi.
The initiative offers an intensive six to eight-week training programme for 10-15 UAE National women, covering essential business areas through workshops and coaching sessions. From the Mental Wellbeing workshop to sessions on Business Plan and Financials, Sales Techniques, Marketing Strategies, Customer Value and Loyalty, to Business Sustainability, participants will be well-equipped to advance their businesses. Moreover, a slice of a Dh1 million grant awaits successful participants, further incentivising their journey.
Alia Abdullah Al Mazrouei, CEO of KFED, emphasized the alignment of the SWAN programme with the National Policy for Empowerment of Emirati Women - 2031. She remarked on the commitment to nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of Emirati women, highlighting the programme's role in enhancing their business acumen and societal contributions.
The programme also promises to unlock market access opportunities for participants, both locally and globally, significantly boosting their business visibility. This support extends beyond the training, with KFED partners offering assistance in business establishment and market expansion.
KFED has a longstanding commitment to supporting women's entrepreneurship, with notable achievements including funding 371 women-owned businesses with up to Dh225 million and offering workshops and training programmes to over 21,189 women. Through collaborations with entities like Facebook and the Al Bayt Mitwahid Association, KFED has been instrumental in advancing women entrepreneurship.
Applications for the SWAN programme are now open, inviting ambitious Emirati women entrepreneurs who own revenue-generating home-based businesses in Abu Dhabi. Eligibility criteria include demonstrated self-readiness, resilience, and creativity. Interested applicants are encouraged to seize this opportunity to transform their entrepreneurial endeavors into significant economic contributions.
