Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Attends Inauguration Of TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi In Saadiyat Cultural District
H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, attended the inauguration of teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi. This new cultural landmark in Saadiyat Cultural District offers a multisensory art experience. H.H. Sheikh Khaled noted that this opening strengthens Abu Dhabi's reputation as a hub for arts and innovation, highlighting the UAE's dedication to creativity and knowledge.
The event featured esteemed guests and cultural leaders, with a special performance by Italian pianist Ludovico Einaudi. His music was accompanied by 6,000 synchronised drones and pyrotechnics, marking a significant milestone for Saadiyat Cultural District. This district is set to become the world's largest concentration of cultural and educational institutions.
teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi spans 17,000 square metres and is developed by teamLab in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi). The venue showcases transformative artworks that merge art, science, and technology. These artworks evolve over time through light, sound, and movement interactions.
Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi, stated: "teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi is a groundbreaking cultural landmark that redefines immersive art experiences on a global scale. It embodies a bold vision that pushes the boundaries of creativity, technology, and human perception, offering visitors an experience unlike any other."
The venue features Wet and Dry areas where visitors engage with interactive installations. In the Dry area, artworks respond to guests' movements, creating unique interactions. The Wet area offers hands-on experiences that deepen connections with the art. This dynamic relationship ensures each visit is distinct.
Toshiyuki Inoko, Founder of teamLab, explained: "The artworks in teamLab Phenomena do not exist independently but are created by the environment... However, when the environment is not sustained, the artwork will disappear."

Saadiyat Cultural District hosts renowned museums like Louvre Abu Dhabi and upcoming landmarks such as Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi.
