Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Opens 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship With Over 9,000 Athletes

The 16th Abu Dhabi World Professional Jiu-Jitsu Championship has been inaugurated by H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi. The event is being held at the Mubadala Arena in Abu Dhabi and will continue until 16th November 2024. Sheikh Khaled attended some competitions and awarded medals to several winners during the event.

This year's championship has attracted over 9,000 athletes from 137 countries, covering various age groups and categories. The event plays a crucial role in nurturing future champions by developing their skills and enhancing their capabilities in jiu-jitsu both locally and internationally.

Sheikh Khaled emphasised the importance of this sporting event in promoting jiu-jitsu within the UAE community. During the inauguration ceremony, Sheikh Khaled was joined by Dr Ahmed Belhoul Al Falasi, Minister of Sports; Sara Awadh Musallam, Chairperson of Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge; Abdulmunem Alsayed Mohammed Al Hashmi, Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and other senior officials. Their presence underscored the significance of this championship.

The championship continues to gain global recognition each year, with increasing numbers of athletes participating. It provides a platform for young talent to emerge and professional athletes to advance their careers. This growth reinforces Abu Dhabi's status as a global hub for jiu-jitsu and a prime destination for champions.

Abdulmunem Al Hashmi expressed gratitude towards H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and H.H. Sheikh Khaled for their support.
