Khaled Bin Mohamed And Hamdan Bin Mohammed Explore Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi's Educational Offerings
The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, located in the Saadiyat Cultural District, recently welcomed H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for a tour. This museum, spanning over 35,000 square metres, is the largest of its kind in the Middle East and focuses on the Arab region's natural history.
The museum features state-of-the-art scientific displays and immersive exhibits that cover 13.8 billion years of natural history. Visitors can explore from the universe's formation to Earth's biodiversity today. The tour began with a dramatic atrium showcasing a unique exhibition of sauropod dinosaurs arranged to recreate a prehistoric moment.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled highlighted the museum's role in advancing the UAE's leadership in natural sciences. He noted that it offers a knowledge-rich environment supporting scientific understanding and public education globally on biodiversity and conservation. The museum aims to inspire responsible environmental stewardship.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled also emphasised the importance of cultural and scientific institutions in equipping future generations with knowledge and research capabilities. He stated that the museum fosters curiosity, supports scientific exploration, and inspires innovation to address environmental challenges while promoting sustainability.
The museum includes permanent galleries such as The Story of Earth, The Evolving World, Our World, Resilient Planet, and Earth's Future. Side galleries like The PalaeoLab and Arabia’s Climate offer additional insights. Visitors can also enjoy immersive experiences in the Interactive Theatre.
UAE's Cultural Landscape
H.H. Sheikh Hamdan remarked on the museum's significance as an addition to the UAE’s cultural landscape. He highlighted its role in enhancing the UAE’s status as a global destination for knowledge and innovation, contributing to an informed society capable of shaping the future through science and research.
Accompanying them during the tour were Sheikh Khalifa bin Tahnoon bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of DCT Abu Dhabi; and Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council.
Opening Date and Cultural Hub
The museum will open to the public on 22 November 2025, offering an educational experience for all ages. It invites visitors to explore life's evolution on Earth and beyond. This institution joins others like Louvre Abu Dhabi in making Saadiyat Cultural District a global hub for culture, science, and creativity.
