Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship Round 1 No Gi Opens In Dubai
The Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship - Round 1 No Gi starts on Saturday at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex in Dubai, opening the new season on 24th and 25th January. The third edition remains one of the UAE’s leading Jiu-Jitsu events, drawing strong interest from clubs, academies, athletes and families nationwide.
This year’s championship is organised across eight rounds hosted at several venues in the UAE. The schedule includes five Gi rounds and three No Gi rounds, offering varied competition settings. The format aims to keep standards high across the full season while giving athletes repeated chances to test skills and gain ranking points.

The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation stated that the third edition will build on achievements from the first two seasons, when the event became a regular feature on the domestic sports calendar. A structured ranking system has encouraged higher participation and stronger rivalry between clubs and academies, helping maintain consistent performance levels during every round.
The second edition highlighted the progress in technical quality across the country. Baniyas Jiu-Jitsu Club secured the overall Gi title, while Sharjah Self-Defence Sports Club topped the No Gi standings. These results reflected the widening pool of skilled athletes and the steady rise in competitive standards among different teams in the UAE.
Round 1 focuses on the No Gi discipline and is expected to welcome hundreds of athletes across several age and experience levels. Registration is filling rapidly for divisions including U12, U14, U16, U18, Adults and Masters. This broad structure supports players as they move from early development stages into more advanced, professional environments.
The opening round will be held in a competitive but community-centred atmosphere, aligned with the UAE’s Year of Family. Officials say the event aims to bring relatives and supporters together at the venue, encouraging active lifestyles among younger age groups while also giving experienced athletes a serious platform for performance.
Mohammed Salem Al Dhaheri, Vice Chairman of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation, said the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship is a key part of the sports development in the UAE. He explained that the championship provides a strong competitive environment that helps athletes gain experience, improve their technical level, raise performance standards, and increase competition among clubs and academies. "As part of the Year of the Family, the championship highlights the role of sport in strengthening family bonds by encouraging families to attend, support and engage positively with the competitions. It helps instill the values associated with the sport within the family environment and ensures they stay with athletes from the early stages of their careers, supporting the development of a generation that combines sporting success with social awareness and healthy lifestyles," he added.
