On the sidelines of this meeting, H.H. Sheikh Khaled witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the UAE and Brazil. This agreement builds on outcomes from H.H. Sheikh Khaled's official visit to Brazil last November. During that visit, he met with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to discuss cooperation in clean energy, mineral exploration, and sustainable investments. The MoU supports mutual investments in these areas while also focusing on technology, research, workforce education, and training.

H.H. Sheikh Khaled reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to strengthening strategic relations with Brazil, especially in energy and mining sectors. He emphasised the importance of exchanging expertise and promoting joint projects that foster sustainability and innovation. These efforts aim to bring mutual benefits to both countries and advance their shared goals for sustainable development.

Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi stated, "Our collaboration with Brazil highlights the strength of our bilateral partnership and our shared commitment to fostering sustainable economic growth. This latest MoU is a milestone in enhancing cooperation in the mining sector, supporting the energy transition, and ensuring world-class economic, social, and governance practices."

Alexandre Silveira expressed pride in strengthening Brazil's partnership with the UAE. He said it reflects a shared vision for advancing the energy transition. "In an increasingly interconnected world," he noted, "such robust international collaborations are essential to ensure responsible resource management while fostering economic growth."

Key Attendees at the Meeting

The meeting was attended by several notable figures including Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure; Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi; Khaldoon Khalifa Al Mubarak; Saif Saeed Ghobash; Saleh Ahmad Salem Alsuwaidi; and Waleed Al Mokarrab Al Muhairi.

This meeting aligns with objectives from H.H. Sheikh Khaled's visit to Brazil last November when bilateral agreements were signed across vital sectors aimed at enhancing investments and fostering cooperation in areas of shared interest.

Economic Ties Between UAE and Brazil

The economic relationship between the UAE and Brazil is characterised by significant mutual investments and trade flows. The UAE stands as Brazil's second-largest trade partner in the Middle East. In 2024 alone, bilateral non-oil trade exceeded US$2.64 billion within just six months.

This collaboration is expected to deliver meaningful outcomes for both nations by driving progress through enhanced partnerships across public and private sectors.
