Sheikh Khaled Bin Mohamed Champions Vocational Excellence At EmiratesSkills
H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, recently graced the 15th EmiratesSkills National Competition. This prestigious event, held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, unfolds at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) and will continue until 24th April. Organised by the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET), it showcases a broad spectrum of skills from engineering, industrial, and professional sectors that meet the evolving needs of the future job market.
During his visit, Sheikh Khaled engaged with Emirati students immersed in technical and vocational disciplines. He underscored the significance of such competitions in fostering cooperation among students, enhancing vocational and technical skills, and promoting lifelong learning. The Crown Prince reaffirmed the UAE leadership's commitment to nurturing local talent as a cornerstone for boosting the nation's global competitiveness and fueling economic growth.
The event also saw the participation of Saif Saeed Ghobash, Secretary-General of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, and Dr. Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET. The Emirates Skills National Competition is recognized as a crucial platform for demonstrating the capabilities of UAE youth in technical and vocational education. It targets individuals aged 16-21 years across various categories, with an exception for the aircraft maintenance category which is open to participants up to 24 years old.
In addition to the national competition, an international friendly skills competition is also being held, featuring participants from 17 countries. This segment provides UAE youth with an invaluable opportunity to measure their skills against international standards, serving as a preparatory step for the upcoming WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France, in September 2024.
This convergence of young talents not only highlights the UAE's dedication to advancing technical and vocational education but also positions the nation on the global map as a hub for skilled professionals ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow's job market.
