KFSHRC Ranks Among The World’s Best For Kidney Transplant Outcomes With High Survival Rates
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) has achieved remarkable kidney transplant survival rates, with one-year patient and graft survival between 97% and 99%. This places it among the top global reference centres. These results highlight the effectiveness of KFSHRC's integrated care model, which ensures precision and continuity throughout the transplant process, from evaluation to postoperative follow-up.
KFSHRC's kidney transplant program operates within a multidisciplinary framework. It combines decades of clinical expertise with advanced immunological matching and precise genetic assessment. This approach aims to achieve optimal outcomes while minimising organ rejection risks. The hospital also extends its efforts beyond surgical excellence by offering post-transplant preventive care through a dedicated vaccination clinic for solid-organ recipients.

The vaccination clinic provides customised immunisation plans tailored to each patient's immune condition, reducing infection rates and enhancing long-term graft stability. Demonstrating its system's efficiency, KFSHRC recently performed ten paired kidney transplants over two consecutive days. This achievement marks an unprecedented milestone for a single centre worldwide.
This accomplishment reflects seamless coordination among medical, engineering, and administrative teams. Supported by a sophisticated logistical framework, these teams enable simultaneous multi-donor operations with precision and safety. Since launching its organ transplant program in 1981, KFSHRC has completed over 5,000 kidney transplants, placing it among a select group of global centres achieving this surgical excellence milestone.
As part of its participation in the Global Health Exhibition 2025 in Riyadh, KFSHRC will showcase its kidney transplant program as one of the most successful in the Middle East and globally. This reflects a patient-centred medical vision that integrates innovation, research, and clinical precision. The hospital will also highlight achievements in robotic surgery, gene therapy, and smart neurology.
KFSHRC plays an ongoing role in driving Saudi Arabia's transformation towards a more advanced healthcare ecosystem. It has been ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th globally among the world's top 250 academic medical centres for 2025. Brand Finance 2024 recognised it as the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East.
Additionally, Newsweek listed KFSHRC among the World's Best Smart Hospitals for 2025. These accolades underscore KFSHRC's commitment to excellence in healthcare delivery and innovation on both regional and global scales.
