KFSHRC Achieves Top Ranking In Middle East For Oncology And Orthopedics In 2026
King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre (KFSHRC) in Riyadh has achieved a significant milestone by being ranked first in the Middle East for oncology and orthopedics. This recognition comes from Newsweek’s Best Specialized Hospitals: Middle East 2026 rankings, developed with Statista. The hospital's leadership in specialized healthcare highlights Saudi Arabia's global health sector standing.
The Newsweek ranking is based on three main criteria: expert recommendations from an international survey of healthcare professionals, accreditations and certifications, and patient-reported outcomes. These pillars assess improvements in quality of life and daily activity performance post-treatment. This year, KFSHRC has made notable advancements in advanced therapies and precision surgery.

KFSHRC has treated over 200 patients through its T-cell therapy program since 2021. Additionally, it inaugurated Saudi Arabia’s first gene and cell therapy manufacturing facility to enhance local access and support technology localization. These efforts underscore the hospital's commitment to cutting-edge medical treatments.
A groundbreaking achievement was recorded when KFSHRC performed a global first in robotic surgery for removing an intracranial brain tumor. Remarkably, the patient was discharged within 24 hours after the procedure, showcasing the hospital's advanced surgical capabilities.
The hospital's prominent position in Newsweek’s list is attributed to initiatives under the Health Sector Transformation Program. This program is part of Saudi Vision 2030, launched by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The ranking reflects the high level of healthcare services provided in Saudi Arabia.
Previously, KFSHRC was ranked first in the Middle East and Africa and 15th globally among the world’s top 250 academic medical centers for 2025. It was also recognized as the most valuable healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East by Brand Finance 2024.
Global Recognition
KFSHRC has been listed in Newsweek’s rankings of the World’s Best Hospitals for 2025, World’s Best Smart Hospitals for 2026, and World’s Best Specialized Hospitals for 2026. These accolades highlight its status as a leading institution in both regional and global healthcare landscapes.
This recognition underscores KFSHRC's commitment to excellence in healthcare services, reinforcing its role as a leader in specialized medical care within Saudi Arabia and beyond.
