KFSHRC Reports Significant Community Engagement In National Blood Donation Campaign Initiated By Crown Prince

The King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre (KFSHRC) has seen a notable rise in blood donors since the national campaign began. This initiative, led by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, aims to promote voluntary blood donation across society. The campaign's success highlights its significant role in encouraging community involvement in this vital cause.

KFSHRC is a major tertiary care facility that requires a constant supply of blood for organ transplants, cancer treatments, and complex surgeries. Voluntary donations are crucial for maintaining national health security and saving lives. The hospital urges everyone to donate blood, with its banks in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Madinah open to donors during specified hours.

To enhance community participation, KFSHRC’s Blood Bank in Riyadh collaborates with public and private sectors to organize field campaigns. These efforts make it easier for donors to contribute and help foster a culture of giving. Since the campaign's launch, there has been an increase in voluntary donations, showcasing the importance of institutional support in sustaining national health security.

The national campaign's goals include raising awareness about voluntary blood donation and achieving self-sufficiency in blood supplies. It aims to ensure safe and sustainable resources to meet patient needs throughout Saudi Arabia. A single donation can save multiple lives by providing essential components like plasma or platelets.

In 2024, over 800,000 individuals donated blood as part of this critical initiative. KFSHRC has been recognized as the top healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East by Brand Finance rankings for 2024. It also ranks first in the Middle East and North Africa and 15th globally among the world's leading Academic Medical Centers for two consecutive years.

Newsweek magazine has acknowledged KFSHRC's excellence by including it in the World’s Best 250 Hospitals list and the World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2025 list. These accolades reflect its commitment to healthcare innovation and quality service.

The hospital's blood banks operate at different times: Riyadh welcomes donors from Sunday to Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.; Jeddah operates from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; while Madinah is open from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., all on weekdays.
