KFSHRC Achieves Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification From The American Heart Association
The King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Riyadh has received Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification from the American Heart Association and the Middle East and North Africa Stroke Organization, placing KFSHRC among a small number of hospitals worldwide recognised for the highest level of stroke care.
This certification confirms that KFSHRC delivers integrated stroke services, from fast diagnosis to specialised treatments and structured rehabilitation. The hospital provides advanced interventional procedures and continuous monitoring, with teams available around the clock, which helps improve survival outcomes and lowers the risk of long-term complications for stroke patients.

An important part of KFSHRC’s stroke care system is its Mobile Stroke Unit, described as the first of its kind in the region. The unit contains a CT scanner and a dedicated medical team, allowing stroke assessment and initial treatment to start at the patient’s location within minutes of arrival.
The Mobile Stroke Unit has been credited with saving many lives by reducing delays before treatment, when every minute is critical for brain function. It also played a key role during the Hajj season, when large crowds and time-sensitive emergencies increased the need for rapid stroke care near pilgrims and healthcare facilities.
The Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification joins a series of international recognitions for KFSHRC. The hospital was ranked first in the Middle East and North Africa and 15th globally among the top 250 academic medical centers for 2025, reflecting its clinical work and research performance in specialised healthcare.
KFSHRC is also reported as holding the highest-valued healthcare brand in Saudi Arabia and the Middle East, according to Brand Finance 2025. Newsweek has listed the hospital among the World’s Best Hospitals 2025, World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2026, and World’s Best Specialized Hospitals 2026, supporting its position in advanced stroke and specialised care.
These recognitions, together with the Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification and the Mobile Stroke Unit, highlight KFSHRC’s role in supporting Saudi Vision 2030 goals for specialised healthcare. The hospital’s work on stroke care, medical training and research contributes to developing national expertise and strengthening the Kingdom’s status as a regional reference centre.
