Kering Generation Award X Saudi Arabia Launches Selection For Innovative Startups In Sustainable Fashion
The Fashion Commission, in collaboration with Kering, has initiated the selection process for the "Kering Generation Award X Saudi Arabia." This initiative supports 20 innovative startups making a notable impact in the fashion industry. The partnership aims to highlight sustainable practices and explore innovative startups in fashion and commodities. It also establishes award criteria, selection procedures, and development programs for participants.
In November 2024, the application process began, inviting startups to apply and promote sustainability. Over 100 startups applied, with 20 selected for a three-day training camp in Riyadh. Workshops focused on developing key performance indicators, goal setting, and pitching skills. On January 14, these shortlisted startups gathered in Riyadh for final presentations.

During the final presentation session, each startup was evaluated based on customer engagement, circular economy, and water protection. Afterward, an evaluation process began to select the top 10 proposals. The jury assessed them on innovation, relevance to the topic, connection to fashion, and potential societal and environmental impact.
The awards ceremony for the "Kering Generation Award X Saudi Arabia" is set for January 27 in Riyadh. The top three winning startups will be announced at this event. Winners will enjoy a week-long trip to Paris for exclusive mentoring with Kering's sustainability teams and present their innovations at the ChangeNOW Summit 2025.
Burak Cakmak, CEO of the Fashion Commission, emphasized that sustainability is central to their vision for the industry's future. He stated that the Kering Generation Award X Saudi Arabia aims to showcase and support startups fostering significant innovation in circular fashion and environmental stewardship.
Cakmak highlighted that this initiative demonstrates the commission’s commitment to advancing solutions addressing current challenges while paving the way for a more sustainable future in fashion.
