KAUST Hosts Rising Stars In AI Symposium 2025 To Strengthen Saudi Arabia's Position In Global AI Landscape
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) has unveiled a group of emerging talents in artificial intelligence (AI) for 2025. This initiative is part of the university's strategy to strengthen Saudi Arabia's influence in this growing technological sector. The "Rising Stars in AI Symposium 2025," hosted by KAUST, aimed to boost research collaboration, aligning with its mission as a leading AI research institution both locally and internationally.
KAUST president Edward Byrne AC highlighted the significance of expanding discoveries and nurturing innovation with such exceptional talent present. The innovators recently showcased their work at renowned AI conferences, including the Conference on Neural Information Processing Systems, the International Conference on Machine Learning, and the Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern Recognition.

Professor Bernard Ghanem, chair of the KAUST Center of Excellence for Generative AI, noted that these rising stars acknowledge KAUST’s role within the AI research community. He stated that the event offers a platform to display pioneering research in generative AI, machine learning, computer vision, and natural language processing.
The symposium also served as a venue for exchanging knowledge, generating ideas, and building partnerships. This reflects KAUST's dedication to scientific excellence and global collaboration. Part of the event was devoted to exploring image and video analysis to enhance educational AI systems' accuracy in interpreting visual data.
In addition to showcasing talent, KAUST signed a memorandum of understanding with Tawuniya, the largest insurance company in the Middle East and North Africa. This agreement aims to foster research collaboration between the two entities. The university emphasized its ongoing series of events and expansion of research partnerships that benefit Saudi Arabia.
These efforts support young researchers while investing in the knowledge economy, aligning with Vision 2030 objectives. By focusing on developing local capabilities, KAUST continues to play a crucial role in advancing technological innovation within the Kingdom.
