Makkah Deputy Governor Marks End Of KAUST Academy Program For Saudi Students

Prince Saud bin Mishaal bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Governor of Makkah Region, attended the closing ceremony of the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) Academy Program. This event marked the graduation of the second cohort from KAUST's training initiative for Saudi university students. Recognised as a leading program in the Kingdom, it aims to equip students with advanced skills in fields like AI, bioinformatics, and cybersecurity.

The KAUST Academy training program is structured into four distinct stages. Initially, over 7,000 Saudi university students participated in virtual courses. The second and third stages involved intensive in-person courses for more than 2,800 participants. Finally, 200 exceptional students were selected for domestic and international scholarships at prestigious institutions such as the University of Glasgow, University of Oxford, and Duke University.

KAUST Academy Program Concludes

During the ceremony, Prince Saud toured an exhibition showcasing 67 posters of graduates' projects. These projects highlighted practical achievements in AI, cybersecurity, and bioinformatics. The exhibition underscored the program's success in fostering talent capable of addressing future challenges with advanced skills.

KAUST Academy Director General Dr. Sultan Al-Barakati emphasised that global partnerships reflect KAUST's ambitious vision. He stated that these collaborations aim to provide comprehensive education based on global standards and advanced technology. "These partnerships contribute to preparing a generation capable of facing future challenges with advanced skills and comprehensive knowledge," he said.

The program is organised by KAUST in collaboration with the National Cybersecurity Authority, NEOM, several private sector entities, and business leaders. This collective effort ensures that students receive training aligned with industry needs and technological advancements.

Continuous Education Platform

Established as a platform for continuous education in Saudi Arabia, KAUST Academy aims to enhance technical skills in the labour market. It prepares a skilled Saudi workforce through targeted training programs for university students and early career professionals. The academy offers short intensive courses in AI, machine learning, data science, certification programs, diplomas, and partial master's degree courses.

The academy also seeks to establish partnerships with universities and institutions within the Kingdom. This initiative aligns with Saudi Vision 2030 by contributing to national talent development and ensuring that graduates are well-prepared for future job markets.

Prince Saud was briefed on the details and stages of the training program during his visit. He learned about its organisation by KAUST in partnership with various entities aimed at equipping students with essential skills for modern industries.

This year's graduating cohort showcased their projects at an exhibition attended by Prince Saud. The display included practical achievements in AI, cybersecurity, and bioinformatics fields.

The program's structure includes virtual courses followed by intensive in-person sessions. Scholarships are awarded to outstanding students for further studies at renowned universities worldwide.
