‘Katateeb’ And ‘Takkul’ Emerge As Winners In UAE’s Pitch@Gov Innovation Challenge
The Mohammed bin Rashid Centre for Government Innovation (MBRCGI) recently celebrated the achievements of the fourth cycle of Pitch@Gov winners, spotlighting innovative projects that aim to enhance the cultural and environmental landscape of the UAE. This year, Rashid Al Zaabi's "Katateeb" and Aminata Ndiaye's "Takkul" stood out among the entries, each addressing distinct areas of Emirati life and sustainability.
"Katateeb" emerges as a pioneering metaverse platform designed to educate young Emiratis about their rich traditional customs and values through an engaging digital experience. Targeting children aged 3 to 13, the platform leverages gamification, offering interactive role-playing scenarios that reflect core Emirati values. This innovative approach not only reconnects children with their heritage but also aligns with modern educational methods.

On the environmental front, "Takkul" introduces a practical solution to the pressing issue of food waste in the MENA region. The platform facilitates a connection between food retailers and consumers, allowing for the sale of surplus food at discounted rates. With over 30 partners in the F&B industry and more than 150 daily users, "Takkul" significantly contributes to reducing food wastage while promoting economic, social, and environmental well-being.
A Platform for Sustainable Innovation
Pitch@Gov has established itself as a vital government initiative that nurtures innovation by offering a stage for entrepreneurs and innovators to bring their ideas to fruition. This cycle's focus on sustainability in digital transformation underscores the UAE's commitment to leading a sustainable and comprehensive digital future. With over 150 innovative ideas submitted, the competition underscores a growing culture of innovation across the nation.
The evaluation process involved a jury of experts who assessed entries based on novelty, impact, feasibility, and effective communication. This rigorous selection process ensures that only the most promising innovations are recognized and supported.
Aligning with "We the UAE 2031"
The MBRCGI's methodology is built on three foundational pillars: Innovation Enablers, Innovation Missions, and Innovation Platforms. These pillars collectively aim to foster a knowledge base of new trends, implement innovative government initiatives, and provide practices to enhance government capabilities. This strategic approach is in harmony with the "We the UAE 2031" vision, which seeks to create an environment conducive to innovation and skill development among individuals.
In conclusion, the success of this year's Pitch@Gov competition highlights significant strides towards integrating innovation into various aspects of Emirati life. By focusing on projects like "Katateeb" and "Takkul," the UAE demonstrates its dedication to preserving cultural heritage and addressing contemporary challenges through technology and innovation.
