Kalimat Foundation Supports Education By Donating 400 Books To Palestinian Children In Abu Dhabi

Kalimat Foundation (KF), a UAE-based non-profit, has donated 400 Arabic-language books to Palestinian children in Emirates Humanitarian City (EHC), Abu Dhabi. This initiative aligns with UAE's "Reading Month" and aims to empower underprivileged children by supporting their right to read. The donation was made during a visit led by Sheikha Lubna Bint Khalid Al Qasimi, Vice President of Kalimat Foundation Board of Trustees.

The donation is part of the ‘Pledge a Library’ initiative, which ensures children's access to knowledge and supports their educational journey. Portable libraries filled with books for various age groups were donated, alongside engaging activities like workshops and cultural sessions. This initiative aims to instill a love for reading among 50 children aged 6 to 10, fostering their intellectual growth.

Kalimat Foundation Donates Books to Children

Kalimat Foundation's commitment is evident in its efforts to provide educational resources and opportunities for children in need. The foundation's initiatives reflect its dedication to ensuring access to books and supporting children's educational and cultural development, especially in challenging environments requiring special support.

Emirates Humanitarian City plays a crucial role as a comprehensive humanitarian model, offering an integrated living environment for displaced individuals from crisis zones worldwide. It addresses educational, cultural, medical, and recreational needs, reinforcing its commitment to providing holistic support.

The donation included two portable libraries gifted to the school at Emirates Humanitarian City, containing 200 Arabic-language books each. Additionally, a portable library with 100 Arabic books was provided for the nursery. An extra 100 books were given directly to children who participated in an interactive reading session led by journalist and children's book author Samia Ayish.

Sahar Wahbeh, creative designer and founder of "Dumyé," contributed handmade customized dolls for nursery children and conducted a doll-making workshop for schoolchildren. This activity allowed them to unleash creativity, nurture sensory skills, and enhance communication abilities within an engaging educational setting.

Commitment to Cultural Preservation

Amna Al Mazmi, Director of Kalimat Foundation, emphasized the foundation’s commitment to supporting Palestinian children affected by the war on Gaza. She stated: "At Kalimat Foundation, we take pride in contributing to the UAE’s vision... Providing access to education for underprivileged children is not merely a humanitarian duty but an investment in a brighter future."

This latest contribution builds upon Kalimat Foundation’s long-standing commitment to supporting Palestinian children. Previously, through its Ara Initiative, it provided accessible books for blind and visually impaired children within Palestine. The foundation also launched the "Stitching Hope for Gaza" merchandise line in April 2024.

The proceeds from this merchandise line are dedicated to the "Tarahum for Gaza" campaign. These efforts collectively underscore Kalimat Foundation's dedication to empowering children affected by conflict and disability while fostering education and preserving cultural identity under challenging circumstances.
