KAICIID To Contribute To Women, Peace, And Security Discussions At Manila Conference
The King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) is set to play a significant role in the International Conference on Women, Peace, and Security. This event will be held in Manila, Philippines, from October 28 to 30. The conference aims to gather over 65 government officials and ministers from Arab, Asian, and African regions to discuss collaborative strategies for advancing the global women, peace, and security agenda.
KAICIID will share its expertise in fostering partnerships and trust with government officials and civil society organizations. The goal is to enhance women's roles in peacebuilding and security. A side event hosted by KAICIID on October 30 will feature a panel discussion with prominent women peacebuilders from Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Pakistan, and the Philippines.

The panel discussion will explore challenges and opportunities related to promoting the women, peace, and security agenda within their regions. This session aims to encourage exchanges between civil society groups and government officials on regional collaborations relevant to this agenda. KAICIID will also highlight women's contributions to peace efforts in Arab and Asian regions through initiatives like "She for Dialogue."
Dr. Zuhair Alharthi, KAICIID Secretary General, emphasized the center's commitment to creating safe spaces and using dialogue as a tool for peacebuilding. He described this event as a crucial step in advancing the global women, peace, and security agenda. Dr. Alharthi stated that international organizations play an essential role in maintaining societal cohesion.
Dr. Alharthi stressed the importance of countering divisive discourses that marginalize groups based on religious, gender, or ethnic identities. Such narratives pose threats to global peace by fostering environments of animosity and exclusion. He highlighted that these issues can lead to extremist ideologies if not addressed effectively.
The conference seeks to facilitate dialogue among various stakeholders about enhancing women's leadership roles in peacebuilding efforts globally. By sharing experiences and strategies, participants aim to strengthen regional collaborations that support the women, peace, and security agenda.
This gathering represents a significant opportunity for international cooperation in addressing key issues related to women's involvement in peace processes worldwide. It underscores the importance of collective efforts in promoting sustainable peace through inclusive dialogue.
