KAFD Receives Guinness World Record For Largest Continuous Pedestrian Skywalk Network In Riyadh
The King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC) has been recognised by Guinness World Records for having the largest continuous pedestrian skyway network globally. This achievement highlights KAFD's dedication to pioneering urban development and creating a sustainable city environment. The skywalks, which span 15.46 km, connect 95 buildings through 42 climate-controlled pathways, ensuring year-round pedestrian access.
Elevated above ground level, these skywalks provide direct access to Riyadh’s metro system. They allow workers, visitors, and residents to move around KAFD effortlessly while enjoying views of its iconic architecture without concerns about traffic or weather conditions. The construction involved over 3,000 tons of steel and 30,000 sqm of glass, equivalent to four FIFA football pitches.

The project required more than five million safe man-hours and involved 1,200 personnel. This engineering marvel reflects KAFD's vision of reimagining urban mobility, making it easier for people to walk comfortably between work, home, and leisure activities. The skywalks link a vibrant mix of offices, homes, retailers, restaurants, and entertainment venues.
"This recognition by Guinness World Records affirms KAFD as a national platform for transformative urban development," said Chief Asset Delivery Officer at KAFD DMC Faddy AlAql. "Beyond its scale, the skywalk network reflects a future-focused mobility strategy—seamlessly connecting assets, enhancing walkability, and supporting our ambition to deliver a world-class smart city experience."
Guinness World Records Official Adjudicator Mbali Nkosi stated: "First set in Minneapolis in 2016, this record has now been redefined by KAFD. In an era where sustainability drives innovation, KAFD’s skyway network sets a new global benchmark for walkable urban design. Guinness World Records celebrates this achievement as a bold step toward smarter, more connected cities. The certificate presentation on 6 July will commemorate this achievement."
KAFD’s infrastructure continues to draw leading global companies. The district hosts over 90 international and local firms along with 19 regional headquarters such as Goldman Sachs, Bain & Company, and PepsiCo.
