KACST Signs Strategic Partnerships To Elevate Saudi's Semiconductor Industry

In a significant move to bolster the Kingdom's technological landscape, the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has inked 13 strategic partnerships at the LEAP tech conference. These collaborations, both local and international, aim to advance the semiconductor industry, propel future communications technologies, and nurture national talent within Saudi Arabia.

KACST's endeavor to localize the semiconductor sector has led to a notable partnership with Alat Company, backed by the Public Investment Fund (PIF), focusing on the development of the semiconductor system. Additionally, collaboration with the Global Semiconductor Group (GSG) is set to enhance electronic chip design, fostering national expertise while attracting global talents and companies to the Saudi market.

KACST Elevates Saudi's Tech with New Partnerships

The establishment of a national technical and industrial alliance marks a pivotal step towards innovation in 5G and 6G communications technologies and Open RAN. This alliance, formed through strategic partnerships with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Research, Development and Innovation Authority (RDIA), the Saudi Telecom Company (STC), and Saudi Aramco, aims to create a vibrant ecosystem for future communication technologies. This initiative underscores Saudi Arabia's ambition to become a leading developer of 6G technologies globally.

Quantum Technologies and Network Development

In collaboration with Aramco and other key stakeholders, KACST launched the Saudi Accelerated Innovation Center. This center is dedicated to enhancing quantum technologies and developing advanced communications networks, further solidifying the Kingdom's position in cutting-edge technological advancements.

Web 3 System Application

A strategic partnership with Animoca Brands aims to facilitate the integration of companies and institutions into the Web 3 system. This collaboration will explore joint research and development projects in blockchain applications, gaming, artificial intelligence, and metaverse development.

Digital Health Innovation

KACST has also partnered with Ascend Solutions Ltd. to foster innovation in digital health and disability research. This partnership focuses on promoting virtual healthcare solutions and leveraging AI and Internet of Things technologies to develop innovative health technologies.

Emerging Technologies for Future Cities

To support the localization of emerging technologies and the development of future cities, KACST has established partnerships with Cisco Saudi Arabia Limited Company for the Virtual Digital Innovation Center (VDIC) and Elm Company for future cities' technologies. Additionally, cooperation with Tulip Technologies Company will enhance research, development, and training in robotics, AI, and automation.

Transportation Technologies and Smart Cities

Aligning with the Made in Saudi Program's objectives, KACST's partnership with CiDi Auto (Hong Kong) Limited focuses on R&D related to heavy trucks, future transportation technologies, and smart cities. This collaboration aims to explore supplying the Saudi market with these trucks and conducting research, design, and manufacturing within the Kingdom.

Boosting Innovation through International Collaboration

KACST's partnership with Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited is designed to develop science and technology parks' infrastructure in Saudi Arabia. This collaboration seeks to facilitate market entry for companies from both regions, fostering success through digital service platforms.

Developing National Talent

The Academy 32 at KACST has entered into strategic partnerships with Cisco Saudi Arabia Limited and Nortal. These collaborations aim to transfer knowledge and qualify human cadres in information technology fields through professional certification programs.

This series of strategic partnerships underscores KACST's commitment to advancing technological innovation, developing national talent, and positioning Saudi Arabia as a leader in emerging technologies on the global stage.
