KACST Launches Programme To Accelerate Research To Market And Strengthen Innovation Ecosystem
King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has introduced a new initiative to speed up the journey from research to market-ready products. This program, in collaboration with the Research, Development and Innovation Authority, is designed to assist researchers and innovators in turning their ideas into viable products by understanding customer needs and market opportunities.
The initiative is structured in two phases. Initially, participants engage in a training bootcamp filled with interactive sessions, workshops, and group activities. These are aimed at teaching the basics of moving innovations from laboratories to the marketplace. The second phase offers intensive training, equipping teams with tools to comprehend customer demands and create business models.

This program is part of KACST’s broader efforts to enhance the national innovation network. It aims to build scalable business models while improving skills in market analysis and product design. Such initiatives are crucial for boosting Saudi Arabia's competitiveness in research and innovation, aligning with Vision 2030 goals.
Participants receive specialized mentorship during the second phase to help transform their research outputs into marketable products and services. The program concludes with participants showcasing their innovative solutions before a panel of judges for evaluation, followed by announcing winners.
The program is expected to create high-quality jobs in innovation and technology transfer fields. It aims to increase the knowledge-based economy's contribution to Saudi Arabia's GDP, solidifying its status as a regional innovation hub. Additionally, it supports establishing startups in deep technology sectors.
KACST invites researchers and innovators across Saudi Arabia to participate in this initiative. By doing so, they can gain valuable insights into transforming their innovations into successful market ventures.
This effort not only strengthens the Kingdom’s position as an innovation leader but also contributes significantly to national aspirations for enhancing the innovation ecosystem. By fostering such an environment, Saudi Arabia moves closer to achieving its Vision 2030 objectives.
