Just Solution To Palestine Issue Is Key To Achieving Regional Stability, Says Arab Parliament Speaker

Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, Speaker of the Arab Parliament, highlighted that over 70 years of conflict in the Middle East have shown that a fair and complete resolution to the Palestinian issue is crucial. This solution involves establishing an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital. He emphasised that without this, peace and stability in the region remain unattainable.

During his speech at the Inter-Parliamentary Union General Assembly in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Al Yamahi warned against ignoring this solution. He stated that any attempts to do so would inevitably lead to more chaos and instability. The assembly took place from 5th to 9th April.

Al Yamahi remarked, "Speaking today of development and social justice for the Palestinian people may seem a luxury, as they are deprived of even the most basic necessities for survival. The occupation has deliberately imposed a cruel reality: either death by bombing and starvation or forced displacement from their homeland—both of which are crimes against humanity." His words underscored the dire situation faced by Palestinians under occupation.

The speaker also pointed out that the actions of occupying forces in Palestine exceed those of notorious terrorist groups worldwide. He called on parliamentarians globally to take responsibility and end the silence surrounding these atrocities against Palestinians.

Al Yamahi urged international lawmakers to support Palestinian rights actively. He stressed that backing these rights is not just a political duty outlined by international agreements but also a moral and humanitarian obligation. Palestinians deserve to live freely and securely like any other people.

He reiterated that supporting Palestinian rights aligns with international charters and conventions. This support is essential for ensuring freedom, peace, and security for Palestinians, who have long been denied these fundamental rights.
