Jordan's Ayman Safadi Highlights Security Priorities And Two-State Solution For Regional Peace
Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs, Ayman Safadi, emphasised that the protection of Jordan’s national interests, security, and citizens is the government's primary concern. He stated that Jordan will not become a battleground for external conflicts, asserting the non-negotiable nature of Jordan’s sovereignty. "We’ve told both Israel and Iran, ‘Do not breach our airspace," he declared.
Safadi urged an immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza to prevent further humanitarian crises. He cautioned against illegal Israeli actions in the West Bank, warning they could lead to significant unrest in the occupied territory and jeopardise any chance for a fair and lasting peace.

The minister highlighted the importance of establishing a genuine political path towards a two-state solution as the only feasible route to peace. He confirmed ongoing collaboration with France and Saudi Arabia to organise an international conference focused on this solution. The Arab Peace Initiative was mentioned as a viable proposal for achieving comprehensive peace, including the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state.
On Syria, Safadi remarked that regional stability hinges on Syria's stability. He expressed full support for Syria’s reconstruction efforts, advocating for peace and dignity for the Syrian people after years of conflict.
Discussing Jordan-US relations, Safadi described them as "strategic and historic," highlighting robust cooperation in counterterrorism efforts and economic support. This partnership underscores mutual interests in maintaining regional security and prosperity.
Regarding Iran, Safadi noted Jordan's support for de-escalation in the region while addressing direct concerns such as weapons and drug smuggling. "We want good relations with all neighbours, including Iran, but such ties must be based on mutual respect and non-interference," he stated.
Safadi reiterated Jordan's commitment to safeguarding its sovereignty while fostering peaceful relations with neighbouring countries. His statements reflect Jordan's strategic approach to regional diplomacy amidst ongoing tensions.
