Jordan's First Independent CNG Filling Station Marks A Key Energy Shift
Jordan has taken a significant stride towards embracing alternative energy sources with the opening of its first-ever independent compressed natural gas (CNG) refuelling station. This development is aimed at buses, trucks, and various other vehicles, marking a pivotal move towards reducing energy costs and diversifying the kingdom's energy portfolio.
Highlighting the benefits of CNG, officials noted that it offers substantial savings, cutting fuel expenses by about 50% when compared to traditional petrol and diesel options.

Designed to accommodate the refuelling needs of various vehicles, the newly inaugurated station boasts a substantial capacity of 1,500 litres and is equipped with two pumps that can refill a vehicle at 250 bar pressure within a mere 7–11 minutes. This efficiency not only promotes the use of CNG but also positions Jordan as a forward-thinking nation in energy management and environmental conservation.
The introduction of the CNG station comes as a part of Jordan's broader efforts to enhance its economic infrastructure through the adoption of more sustainable and cost-effective energy solutions. Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Saleh Kharabsheh stated, "The government is committed to broadening the role of natural gas across the kingdom in line with its economic modernisation vision and plans to diversify energy sources."
"The ministry is keen to expand natural gas use in Jordan and create an attractive investment environment for this vital sector," Kharabsheh was quoted by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).
