Joint Statement Highlights Cooperation During Indonesian President's Visit To Saudi Arabia

President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia recently visited Saudi Arabia, marking a significant event in the diplomatic relations between the two nations. Invited by King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, President Subianto's visit underscored the deep-rooted ties and mutual respect shared by both countries. The visit took place on July 2–3, 2025, corresponding to Muharram 7–8, 1447 AH.

During the visit, President Subianto was warmly received by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah. The Crown Prince conveyed King Salman's greetings and best wishes for Indonesia's continued prosperity. In return, President Subianto extended his greetings to King Salman, wishing health and well-being for him and prosperity for Saudi Arabia.

Indonesian President's Visit to Saudi Arabia

The official talks between the two leaders focused on enhancing historical ties across various sectors. Both sides expressed appreciation for Saudi Arabia's efforts in serving pilgrims and visitors to the Two Holy Mosques. They discussed ways to improve services for Indonesian pilgrims and emphasized their commitment to strengthening cooperation in this area.

The meeting also highlighted the importance of economic collaboration. Both countries praised their strong trade relationship, with bilateral trade reaching approximately $31.5 billion over five years. They agreed to enhance cooperation in priority sectors like energy, financial services, mining, logistics, tourism, agriculture, and green technologies.

The discussions included plans to boost investment opportunities aligned with Saudi Vision 2030 and Indonesia's Golden Vision 2045. Both sides stressed the need for strategic partnerships in key sectors and agreed on mechanisms to facilitate investments and address regulatory challenges.

In energy cooperation, Indonesia acknowledged Saudi Arabia's role in stabilizing global oil markets. Both countries agreed on enhancing collaboration in crude oil supply, petrochemicals, renewable energy projects, and energy efficiency initiatives.

International Collaboration

On international matters, both sides exchanged views on regional issues and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security globally. They welcomed a ceasefire agreement in a conflict region and expressed hope for its sustainability.

Regarding Palestine, they voiced concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and called for international action to end it. They condemned Israel's policies against Palestinians and urged adherence to international law while supporting humanitarian aid efforts.

Regional Stability Efforts

The two nations reiterated support for a political solution in Yemen that preserves its unity. They commended Saudi Arabia's efforts in facilitating dialogue among Yemeni parties and providing humanitarian aid across Yemen.

In Syria, they supported respecting its sovereignty while welcoming steps towards rebuilding the country post-sanctions lift by Western nations. They rejected any violations of Syrian sovereignty including Israeli attacks on Syrian territory.

Defense and Security Cooperation

The leaders agreed on enhancing defense cooperation to achieve regional stability. They committed to joint security efforts against crime and terrorism while boosting cybersecurity collaboration through information exchange and training programs.

A number of agreements were signed during this visit amounting to about $27 billion covering fields such as clean energy and aviation fuel services reflecting aspirations towards an advanced economic partnership between both countries.

Cultural Exchange Initiatives

The discussions also covered cultural exchanges including digital economy innovation; labor resources development; tourism promotion; sports engagement; educational collaborations; industry advancements; agricultural improvements; air connectivity enhancements between both nations' carriers ensuring necessary facilities are provided accordingly.

At the conclusion of his visit President Subianto thanked King Salman & Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman for their hospitality inviting them reciprocally back home at mutually convenient dates expressing hopes further progress prosperity among brotherly peoples involved throughout these engagements undertaken together successfully thus far achieved collectively moving forward positively into future endeavors anticipated ahead eagerly awaited indeed!
