Jeddah KAIA Approves Operational Plan For Umrah Peak Season

Jeddah Airports Company confirmed that an operational plan for King Abdulaziz International Airport during the 1447 AH Umrah peak season has been approved, aiming to manage Umrah traffic in Ramadan and keep passenger movements smooth and safe.

The plan covers operations at three main facilities: the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex, Terminal 1, and the North Terminal. These areas will handle most Umrah flights, with coordinated procedures designed to reduce congestion at every stage of travel.

To speed up check-in and passport procedures, the airport will operate 407 baggage check-in counters and 463 passport control counters. This expanded capacity is intended to limit waiting times and support steady passenger circulation through key processing points.

Jeddah Airports Company stated that human resources have been strengthened to support the plan. The number of workers during peak days will exceed 10,000 employees from governmental, operational, and security bodies, all working together on a 24-hour basis throughout the season.

The company reported upgrades in health and humanitarian services within the airport. Four health centres will operate to provide medical support when needed. Three welcome lounges will receive pilgrims, while 20 air-conditioned rest areas in the Hajj and Umrah Terminal Complex public zone will offer additional comfort.

Operational facilities will run at high capacity, including 56 passenger boarding bridges, 35 baggage-claim belts, and 81 customs inspection devices. These systems are considered vital for keeping arrivals and departures organised and for improving the handling of large Umrah passenger volumes.
