Jeddah Historic District Welcomes Over 2.5 Million Ramadan Visitors
The Jeddah Historic District has recently concluded a highly successful Ramadan season, drawing an impressive 2.5 million visitors. This achievement underscores the district's effectiveness in implementing its service and crowd management strategies, setting a benchmark for sustainable urban development and secure, efficient operations. The district's ability to maintain a clean, organized, and accessible environment throughout the holy month is a testament to its comprehensive facilities management and crowd control approach.
A team of over 830 employees dedicated more than 250,000 hours to ensure the district remained welcoming and hygienic. They employed over 600 cleaning machines and tools, in addition to utilizing more than 16,000 liters of eco-friendly cleaning solutions. The focus on cleanliness extended to the public restrooms, which accommodated an average of 5,000 users daily, with water usage being meticulously managed.

Waste management was a critical component of the district's operations, with over 1,900 tons of waste collected and treated. This included 70 tons of cardboard boxes, equivalent to approximately 380,000 waste bags, all managed through more than 550 waste transfer operations to designated landfills. The safety of visitors was paramount; over 1,000 security personnel were deployed across the district, supported by eight rapid response teams and six ambulances. Additionally, 350 crowd-control organizers were stationed at 14 key locations to manage the flow of visitors efficiently.
To facilitate easy movement within the area, 70 golf carts were available for transportation to and from parking areas. The Jeddah Historic District spans a 2.5 square kilometer area currently undergoing extensive revitalization. This includes significant infrastructure enhancements, building restoration efforts, and a dynamic calendar of cultural events aimed at fostering a thriving community for businesses, cultural initiatives, and entrepreneurs alike.
The district's commitment to sustainable practices and urban development has not only enhanced its appeal as a destination but also reinforced its role as a model for managing large-scale visitor influxes during significant events like Ramadan. With its strategic approach to facilities management, crowd control, safety, and waste management, the Jeddah Historic District has established itself as a premier destination that welcomes visitors with open arms while prioritizing their comfort and security.
