Jeddah Corniche Circuit: A Gateway To Global Formula 1 Motorsport

The Formula 1 stc Saudi Arabian Grand Prix is set to return to Jeddah from 17 to 19 April 2026, marking a sixth straight visit to the city. The event remains a central round of the Formula 1 World Championship, staged under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport and promoted by Saudi Motorsport Company.

Across previous editions, the race on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit has built a reputation for high speed and close competition. Located beside the Red Sea waterfront, the venue has become one of the most watched stops on the calendar for both its layout and atmosphere under night-time floodlights.

The Jeddah Corniche Circuit is recognised as the fastest street circuit in the world, combining long flat-out sections with demanding technical sequences. Barriers sit close to the racing line, and many corners arrive in rapid succession. Drivers therefore have little margin for error and must maintain accuracy and control throughout each lap.

This street circuit stretches along the Red Sea shoreline and features 27 turns, with 16 left-handers and 11 right-handers. The variety of bends keeps drivers working constantly, without many opportunities to rest or reset. The design rewards those who can keep high entry speeds while preserving stability and confidence through the narrow high-speed sections.

One of the defining corners is Turn 13, which is banked at 12 degrees. At this point, drivers can experience lateral forces approaching 5G, equal to five times the force of gravity. This creates heavy physical demands, so concentration, fitness and readiness play a key role over a full race distance.

Racing takes place under floodlights, which gives the Jeddah Corniche Circuit a distinct character on the Formula 1 schedule. The artificial lighting highlights the speed of the cars through the fast sweeps, while also requiring teams and officials to adapt working routines to a night timetable across the three-day weekend.

Since opening, the Jeddah Corniche Circuit has been used for more than Formula 1. The venue has staged the Jeddah E-Prix as part of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and has welcomed talent-building categories such as the Aramco Saudi F4 Championship. These events support the development of drivers, engineers and officials within the Kingdom.

The circuit’s regular presence on international calendars reflects both its technical qualities and Saudi Arabia’s continued investment in motorsport infrastructure and human skills. As experience grows with every edition, operational capability also improves, strengthening Jeddah’s position among leading global racing venues and supporting long-term ambitions in the sport.

With the Formula 1 stc Saudi Arabian Grand Prix scheduled again for April 2026, preparations are under way for another fast and demanding race on the Jeddah Corniche Circuit.
