Jazan Region Becomes A Leading Agricultural Hub For Tropical Fruits In Saudi Arabia
Jazan Region, known for its fertile land and consistent water supply from its valleys, is a key agricultural area in Saudi Arabia. This natural wealth supports sustainable farming, boosting food security and the local economy. The region's success in tropical fruit cultivation highlights its high productivity, with an annual yield of about 53,211 tons, offering room for further agricultural growth.
The Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture has played a crucial role in Jazan's agricultural achievements. By modernising farming methods and introducing new fruit varieties from top global producers, the Ministry has diversified crops and improved their quality. This support has helped Jazan become a leading producer of tropical fruits.

Jazan's farming community is growing as more people recognise agriculture's importance. Over 19,110 farmers cultivate mangoes on more than one million trees, producing around 65,000 tons annually. Additionally, 345 farmers manage over 520,000 fig trees with an annual yield of over 2,600 tons.
In Jazan, approximately 160 farmers tend to more than 6,000 guava trees, yielding about 60 tons each year. Around 300 farmers own over 677,000 papaya trees with an annual output exceeding 34,000 tons. Meanwhile, 310 farmers cultivate about 1.12 million banana trees, producing around 17,000 tons annually.
Custard apple cultivation also contributes to the region's agricultural output. Over 110 farmers grow more than 4,000 custard apple (quince) trees annually yielding over 20 tons. These efforts collectively strengthen Jazan's position as a significant player in tropical fruit production.
Agricultural Celebrations
Jazan Region celebrates its tropical fruit harvest with an annual festival that showcases its agricultural products both domestically and internationally. This event underscores Jazan's role as a symbol of successful agricultural production and its contribution to national food security.
The festival not only highlights the region's economic strength but also aligns with Saudi Arabia's vision for a prosperous agricultural future. It serves as a platform to promote Jazan's produce and reinforces the Kingdom’s commitment to supporting local farmers in this vital sector.
